The emperor Marcus Aurelius was her nephew and later became her adopted daughter, along with the emperor Lucius Verus. She died early in the leadership of Antoninus Pius, but continued to be prominently commemorated as a diva, who after her death played a prominent symbolic role during his reign. Faustina was the only known daughter of the consul and prefect Marcus Annius Verus and Rupelia Faustina. Her brothers were the consul Marcus Ennius Livus and the praetor Marcus Ennius Verus.
