Memorial Book. Magnificent Album in Memory of Binyamin Goldberg, who was murdered during the 1929 Riots, Includes Memorial Essays of the Greatest Zionist Leaders - Memorial book 'Binyamin Goldberg', Tel Aviv 1932. Large, album-like book, including pasted pictures. The book was published in memory of Binyamin Ze'ev Goldberg, the youngest son of the Zionist activist Reb Yitzchak Leib Goldberg. Binyamin Goldberg was born in 1905 and was named after Herzl. During the riots he defended the Jews with total devotion. ”When he found out that two of our brothers are in danger, he didn't hesitate and despite the danger went to save them. On the way, he was shot, stabbed and murdered”. He was murdered in Jaffa. The author, Reb Yitzchak Goldberg, was among the founders of 'Ohavei Zion' in Vilna, which was the first society for the settlement of the Land of Israel. He donated large amounts of money to the settlement of Israel and was therefore called ”The Unknown Benefactor”. The book before us includes essays and fascinating memoirs of the author, concerning his wide Zionist activity as well as important information about the Jewish settlement in Israel those days. The book also contains stories about the author's son, poems and essays in his memory and about a hundred letters of condolence from various writers and Zionist leaders. Ten pictures of Binyamin Goldberg, his funeral and grave are pasted throughout the book. The book has a unique title page with an impressive illustration of a Jew building the walls of Jerusalem and the inscription: ”One hand is working while the other hand is holding a dagger”. Two editions of this book were published in the same year, with slight changes. Before us is the earlier edition among them. Condition: Very Good. Ownership stamp on the title page.
