Eretz Yisrael Album – Forty Pictures of ”The Third Return to Zion” by Ya'akov ben Dov, One of the First Jewish Photographers in Israel, who took pictures of the Zionist act – 1952 - Ya'akov ben Dov (1882-1968) was a photographer and cinematographer, on eof the first Jewish photographers in Israel who was known as ”The Israeli Film Pioneer” and the ”Father of the Hebrew Film”. He asked Menachem Ussishkin to help him receive an immigration permit to Israel so that he could take pictures of the Zionist act. After immigrating to Israel, ben Dov used his artistic talent to document the great Zionist act, the life in Israel, its views, historical events and various central figures. For many years, he worked for the Jewish National Fund. His films presented the Zionist enterprise in the Land of Israel. He was the one who filmed the first film in Israel: Liberated Judah. From the introduction: ”This book of pictures presents milestones in the third return to Zion throughout a period of seventy years, from the immigration of the Biluyim in 1882 to the fourth year of Israel 952…” The album contains forty black-and-white pictures. The album is leather-bound in the Bezalel artistic style with flowered decorations and a copper embossment of a city. On the inner cover, there is an interesting, rare Zionist postcard.
