Torah Mantles – Morocco - Two Torah mantles from Morocco. The mantles are typical of the Torah scrolls of Moroccan communities, unlike other North-African communities were the scrolls were kept in a bag. A. Torah mantle made of woven fabric made of silk and metal threads (brocade), with golden embroidery of the Tablets of the Law and the words ”Keter Torah” above them. Embroidery of plants decorates the front and the back of the mantle. There are two holes for the two wooden handles of the Torah scroll on the upper part of the mantle. The back of the mantle is almost completely opened. A rope in matching color for tying the scroll comes with the mantle. Height: 68 cm. Diameter: 28 cm. Condition: Good. The upper part of the external layer of the mantle is slightly torn. Slightly undone stalks. B. A newer mantle, with Moroccan-styles decorations embroidered in golden thread. Two holes for the wooden handles of the Torah scroll. The back of the mantle us almost completely opened. Height: 75 cm. Diameter: 38 cm. Condition: Very Good. C. Two pairs of wooden handles for Torah scrolls. 84 cm, 85 cm. Condition: Very Good.
