Letter by the Jewish National Council to the Mandate Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Geneva - the Jewish Nation's Ownership of the Western Wall - Tishrei 1928 - Printed memorandum written by the National Council and sent to the Mandate Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Geneva, including an addendum to the memorandum (5 pp.). Stencil. Written on 12.10.1929. The memorandum deals with the removal of the partition separating men and women at the Western Wall. The affair constituted the beginning of the conflict between Jews and Arabs and led to the 1929 Palestine Riots at the end of that year. The writers describe what happened since the partition had been removed: the protests, gatherings and decisions reached. They also describe the national importance of the Western Wall and its holiness. Signed (in print): Dr. Ya'akov Tohn, Yitzchak Ben Zvi and Yosef Meyuchas. In the addendum which is attached to the memorandum, there is a historical survey of the religious and national importance of the Western Wall supported by various sources and the conclusions of the survey. Rare. It is most likely that only very few copies were printed. To the best of our knowledge, the memorandum has never been printed in a book. An additional copy is added that includes the last three leaves. 34x21 cm. Condition: good. Slight tears. Filing holes.
