By the Maggid Rabbi Yisrael of Koznitz. These novaelle were copied from the Maggid's handwriting from what was written on the page of his personal copy of the midrash. Lublin, 1895. First edition. Published by Rabbi Yisrael ben Shabtai Hapstein, the author's grandson. At the beginning of the book are seventeen approbations from the greatest Rebbes and righteous men of the generation. In the approbation of the Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Mordechai author of the ”Imrei Emmet” he writes: ”The body of the Midrash with the glosses of his Honor the aforementioned was with my father [Rabbi Ayeh Leib of Gur, author of the ”Sfat Emmet”] for a few weeks and he reviewed the transcription and corrected several places”. Likewise, the publisher explains in his introduction that the ”Sfat Emmet” reviewed the transcription and edited and made corrections. With additional rare approbations from the first Aleksander Rebbe and his son and more. Rare copy, as in the other copies, and so is written in the Hebrew Bibliography, this book has two title pages, but in the copy before us is a third additional title page of the cover title page in pinkish color – extremely rare! On the left hand side of the cover is a decorated border and in its center the symbol of lions with the writing ”With the help of G-d, completed on the eve of Chanukah 1895”. From here we see that the printing began in Hebrew year 5685 and ended in the year 5686. On the second title page is the name of the book and the place of printing in red ink. On the title page cover is an inscription and signature on the purchase of the book from 1897. An important and dear Chassidic book. Condition: Excellent. New and magnificent leather binding.
