Letter by Rabbi Dov Berish Weidenfeld, the ”Gaon of Tshebin” - Jerusalem, 1958 - A letter from Rabbi Dov Berish Weidenfeld to the management of the burial society in Tel Aviv and to Rabbi Meir Szczarynski in response to their letter, ”And I am sorry to announce that I have my proofs and reasons not to require this matter, and for this I ask your forgiverness…”. The Gaon's handwritten signature is in the letter's margin. Jerusalem, June 1958. Rabbi Dov Berish Weidenfeld (the ”Gaon of Tshebin”, 1881-1966), the son of the author of ”Kochav Mi'Yaakov”, served as the Av Beit Din of Tshebin (Galicia). During the Holocaust he was exiled to Siberia, from where he immigrated to Jerusalem, where he re-established his yeshiva ”Kochav Mi'Yaakov”.
