Two Plastic Belt Buckles - Palestine - A. Plastic belt buckle, Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium, Tel Aviv, Palestine, rare. Belt buckle made of plastic with the Hebrew inscription: ”G.H. Herzliya”, ”Tel Aviv”, and a star-of-David. The Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium was founded in 1905 and was the first high school in the world tpo teach only in Hebrew. 4x5 cm. Condition: Very Good. B. Belt buckle, the ”Maccabiah Games”, Plaestine, 1935. On the buckle, the symbol of the Maccabiah: the Hebrew letter ”מ” shaped as a star-of-David and under it the year, ”5695”. 1350 Jewish athletes from around the world participated in the Maccabiah Games of 1935. Many of them were actually immigrants disguised as athletes, who succeeded in remaining in Israel despite the British prohibition and thus were saved from the horrors of the Holocaust. 4x5 cm.
