Letter of Divrei Torah Handwritten by Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Katz Rappaport Av Beit Din of Puppa Author of ”Simlat Binyamin” - 1802 - Halachic response regarding the law of milk in which blood was found. The letter was sent to Rabbi Aharon [?] of the Jahne community. Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Wolf Ha'Cohen Rappaport (1753-1837) Av Beit Din of Puppa was born in Nikolsburg to his father Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac. He became Av beit Din of Leipnik and later served as Av Beit Din of Bonyhad. In 1783, he became the rabbi of Puppa where he served more than fifty years, until his death. His books are ”Simlat Binyamin”, ”Bigdei Kehunah” on the laws of Nedarim and Shvu'ot, ”Netivot Ha'Chochma” on the sugiyot of the Talmud, ”Edut Le'Yisrael” on the Makot tractate and ”Noy Sukkah” on the Sukkah tractate. His book ”Edut Le'Yisrael” was published by his son Rabbi Menachem Mendel and was approbated by the ”Chatam Sofer”. The book contains a long introduction by his son, which details his father's history, doctrine and books. He is mentioned with great respect several times in the responsa of the Chatam Sofer. 32 cm. 36 handwritten lines. Condition: Fair. Flaws at the margins. A flaw at the center of the leaf with damage to two words. Folding marks and stains. Rabbi Rappaport's handwriting has never been seen in auctions! To the best of our knowledge, this letter has never been printed!
