A Pin of the S.S. units sent from Berlin for the extermination of Warsaw Ghetto - A pin of an S.S. unit for a uniform, hat or lapel. At the bottom of the pin the emblem of the S.S. – two signs of the lightning – appears as well as the symbol of many S.S. units – a skull and swords. The S.S. (short for the German word Schutzstaffel – Defense Corps) started as the defense and intelligence organization of the Nazi party under Heinrich Himmler. His men were chosen according to the principle of racial purity and complete loyalty to the party. With time, the organization grew larger and many parts of the Nazi regime were controlled by it. Its members were known for their fanaticism and cruelty. The S.S. was responsible for the building and management of the concentration and extermination camps. Condition: Very good.
