Four interesting Haggadot, 1930-1954, some of them with unfamiliar musical notes - 1. An illustrated Haggada, with translation to English, Jerusalem 1930. With black-and-white impressive illustrations by the artist Arieh Al- Hanani (an Israeli architect and graphic designer, won the Israel Prize for architecture in 1973). At the end of the Haggada, there are four pages of musical notes for 'Adir Hu', 'Echad Mi Yodea' and 'Chad Gadya' composed by the famous composer Dr. Shlomo Rosovsky. This Haggada was published in four editions and with translation to German. Before us is the English edition titled: ”The Illustrated Hagada. First Jerusalem edition with original illustrations and designs by Arieh Al-Hanani”. The cover is red. The English title page is also in red. The Hebrew title page is in gold and red. Before the title pages, there is an introduction in Hebrew and English by the publisher Nachum Lipschitz. 60 pp. Condition: Very good. Original cover, slight worn out, light wine stains. 2. La Haggada Passover Haggada with translation and Passover laws in French, Paris, 1946 A few impressive black-and-white illustrations. French translation beside the Hebrew text. With traditional musical notes of the Seder songs written by Shmuel Naumberg (a Jewish-French composer, served as the chief cantor of Strasburg). Small format – 175X115 mm. 61 pp. Condition: Very good. Light wine stains. 3. Passover Haggada, Yehuda Edition, Tel Aviv 1954. Each page contains the Hebrew text with its translation. Levin-Epstein Printing House. Illustrations by Blas Zinder. The pages of the Haggada are artistically designed, with typical motifs of the Land of Israel and Zionist motifs. The title page contains the Seven Species and the cover, grapes and goblets of wine. Throughout the Haggada, there are black-and-white picture that symbolize the period (an illegal immigrants ship, soldiers, Yemen Jews). As the introduction indicates: ”This Haggada which has been prepared … in the Land of Israel in a generation that has gone from slavery to independence … the stamp of the era is impressed on it and the pictures of the time and the beauty of the place decorate it”. The Haggada was published in various editions with different pictures. 35 pp. Condition: Very good. The spine of the cover is torn. 4. Passover Haggada for children, Tel Aviv 1950. Edited by P. Chen. Illustrations by Chanan Fischer. Haggada in large letters and with colorful illustrations – suitable for children. 12 pp. Condition: Very good. Slight damage to the drawing on the cover.
