“Benni fliegt ins Gelobte Land” (“Benny Flies to the Promised Land”) – Miriam Singer, Deganya, Berlin, 1936, 1st edition, rare - Miriam Singer was the legendary kindergarten teacher of the first kibbutz in Israel. She initially refused the kibbutz members’ request of her to be a kindergarten teacher, citing her weak command of Hebrew, and that she makes cannot distinguish between the word “pioneers” (“Haluzim”) and “eggplants” (“Hatzilim”). Among other things, she wrote many children’s books. This specific book was written in German and was published by the Zionist publishing “Jüdische Rundschau” in Berlin. It has an illustrated and colorful cover and includes beautiful illustrations by Franz Reisz. The book was later translated and published in Hebrew. This is the rare first edition. 206 pp, with illustrations and colorful cover. Condition: Very good. Rare!
