Bidspirit auction | Eliyahu the Prophet, a booklet
Eliyahu the Prophet, a booklet of songs for infants with illustrations by Meir Gur Arye, 1925, most rare! - A booklet of the poet Yechiel Halperin (1880-1942), one of the first educators for early childhood. Every two pages of the booklet contain a page of the musical notes of the song and a page with a colorful illustration of the artist Meir Gur Arye (1891-1951) with the words of the song. Graphic Print Bezalel, HaGina Publication. The song and the illustrations are about the Prophet Eliyahu taking a child to study Torah with the angels. A most rare booklet. Does not appear in the National Library (the Library has a different booklet from this series which has five parts). The front cover is missing. It was probably torn when the booklet was read in a kindergarten in Tel-Aviv, a detail that is revealed by the stamp ”Kindergarten A, Tel-Aviv” on the new cover that replaced the old one. When the booklet was printed, its author, Halperin, was a kindergarten teacher in that kindergarten, which was called ”a model kindergarten”. 12 pp. Condition: Good. The cover is missing and there are a few stains. Most rare!
