Old and New Pictures of the Land of Israel, Ze'ev Vilnay, Jerusalem, 1942, single edition with the dedication of the author - A collection of 74 maps and ancient pictures from the Land of Israel from the 15th to the 20th century and beside them, recent pictures. Edited by Ze'ev Vilnay. Includes an explanation beside the picture or drawing. The aim of the book is to demonstrate the development of the country through time with an emphasis on the landscape, the expansion of cities, the development of agricultural settlements and the like. Among others, the book includes maps of Jerusalem from various years, pictures and drawings of the holy cities Jerusalem, Hebron, Tiberais and Zefat and other holy sites (the Western Wall, Temple Mount, Rachel's Tomb and Cave of Machpela) as well as various sites around the country (Yizrael Valley, Haifa, Nazareth, Deganya, Jericho and Tel Aviv). Dr. Ze'ev Vilnay (1900-1988) was a geography and historian, one of the greatest researchers of the Land of Israel and its antiquities in recent generations. Receiver of Bialik and Israel Prizes.
