“The Holy Land”, lithographs of paintings of the Holy Land, David Roberts, 1884, rare - Large, impressive volume – one in a series – which includes 84 lithographs of the great and famous paintings of the Land of Israel, painted by David Roberts. Alongside the paintings are captions describing the sites in the land and their history, provided by Rev. George Croly. David Roberts (1796-1864) was a famous Scottish painter. He toured the Holy Land and the Middle East for about a year, during which drew wonderful illustrations of the places he visited. His paintings have won international acclaim and he is rightly considered the leading painter of the Holy Land in the modern era. Rare! Condition: Very good, front cover detached from spine.
