Ushpizin for sukkah with portrait of a Hemdat Shlomo, circa 1840 - Sukkah decoration with Ushpizin prayers in Nusach Sefarad, wicks of entry and exit from the Sukkah, with a portrait of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Lifshitz, author of Hemdat Shlomo, in which he is seen studying the holiday laws in the sukkah, with a song in his honor and mention of his death in 1839. Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Lifshitz (1765–1839), the first rabbi of Warsaw. Studied Torah since early childhood. He dismissed the townspeople of Posen to become their Rabbi, and Rabbi Akiva Eiger of blessed memory was elected in his place. Published his ”Hemdat Shlomo” on the Talmud and the Shulchan Aruch. At the bottom a unique song initialed “Shlomo Zalman” 35X25 cm. Rare. Condition: Good, tears at edges and creases.
