Kosher certificate for exported wine, Rishon Le’Zion wineries, signed and sealed by Rabbi Yosef HaLevy, 1929 - Certificate attesting that six barrels of wine ”are Kosher for Passover”. The wine barrels were bought a month and a half before Passover and sent from the Rishon Le’Zion wine cellar to Stockholm. Official Kosher certificate by Rabbi Yosef HaLevy, handwritten, with his signature and his two stamps. Rabbi Yosef HaLevy (1870-1948) immigrated to Israel from Poland in 1885. At the age of 19, was appointed rabbi of Rishon Le’Zion winery and served in this capacity for several decades. Rabbi Halevi signed in his own hand, and ink stamped ”Son of AAMOR Ha’Gaon Rabbi Naftali Hertz HaLevy ZT”L” (1852-1902), which was a mekubal, and the first rabbi of Jaffa and the settlements. In those times, the Rishon Le’Zion winery was the largest industrial complex in the Land of Israel and in the Middle East.
