Three envelopes commemorating national historical events, signed by Abba Eban, Levi Eshkol, and Menachem Begin - 1) Admission of the State of Israel into the United Nations, 12 May 1949, signed by Abba Eban. This special envelope was issued by the Knesset in honor of the festive ceremony held on the occasion of the admission of Israel into the United Nations. The envelope bears a special print of the Israeli flag joining the rest of the flags of the United Nations, with a similar ink stamp. The envelope includes a 5 mil stamp from the first series of the State of Israel. This series was prepared underground, before the establishment of the state, and commemorated ancient Hebrew coins from national historical events. This green stamp includes a vine leaf from the Great Revolt era, with the inscription in ancient Hebrew: ”Freedom to Zion”. It is stamped ”The State of Israel - the Knesset, Tel Aviv”, with the date 12 May 1949, the 19 of Iyar 5709. The envelope is signed by Abba Eben, the Israeli representative to the ceremony. Abba Eban (1915-2002) was considered ”Israel’s #1 diplomat”. From the age of 24 was a Shaliach (representative) of the Jewish Agency, was a consulter in the establishment of the Jewish Brigade, and work with Moshe Sharett to achieve the approval of the UN Partition Plan. After the establishment of the State of Israel, served as its first ambassador to the United Nations. Rare! 2) Prime Minister Levi Eshkol’s visit as a American President Lyndon Johnson’s guest of honor, 15 June 1964, bearing Eshkol’s signature. Envelope commemorating the historic visit of Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol in the United States in June 1964, and his meeting with President Lyndon Johnson. After meeting with Johnson, Eshkol met with the United Nations representative and with Jewish community leaders, who issued a special stamp to mark the occasion. Levi Eshkol (1895-1969), one of the founders of Kibbutz Degania Bet and a member of the Haganah. After Ben-Gurion resigned as prime minister in 1963, was appointed prime minister and defense minister. In this occupation he succeeded in boosting Israel's foreign relations, particularly with the United States. This envelope is an official envelope of the United Nations in New York, bearing a United Nations stamp dated 15 June 1964. The stamp is worth 5 cents and bears the inscription of the United Nations’s Department of Commerce and Development. Also includes a special issue stamp of the Zionist Organization of America, commemorating the historic visit of Eshkol. Envelope signed by Eshkol. Rare! 3) The historic visit of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat to Jerusalem, with Prime Minister Menachem Begin, 20 November 1977, with Begin’s signature in Hebrew and English. On 20 November 1977, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat came to Jerusalem, a historic and surprising visit that paved the way for the formulation of the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel, signed on the White House lawn in March 1979. This Special paper was prepared on the occasion of Sadat’s historic visit to Jerusalem, and bears three stamps (two of Tel Dan and one of the Negev), with two ink stamps: ”Egyptian President Anwar Sadat’s Visit”, in Hebrew and English, and date - 10 Kislev 5738, 20 November 1977. The paper is signed, in Hebrew and English, by Prime Minister Menachem Begin. Begin (1913-1992), the sixth Israeli prime minister, began his political career in Beitar in Eastern Europe. He was the commander of the Irgun during the struggle with the British mandatory forces, then chairman of the Herut movement and Likud Party, and a minister in the government of the State of Israel.
