Silver pendant with original bronze prutah of Porcius Festus, procurator of Judea under Nero, 59 C.E.
Porcius Festus was the Roman governor of Judaea from 59-62. He was a tolerant and understanding ruler unlike his predecessor Antonius Felix a cruel and very corrupt official. The single coin he struck depicted a palm branch, one of the central symbols of Judaism. There was nothing on his coins to offend the religious sensitivities of the Jewish population. When Jesus entered Jerusalem the people who had gathered were waving palm branches.

Size: 2.4 X 1.7 centimeter approximately.
Total weight (the pendant and the coin): 4.7 grams approximately.
Ideal gift from the Holy Land. The item includes an elegant certificate of authenticity.
