Iron Tsuba, Japanese Metalwork, Antique Sword Fitting, 19th-Century - Iron tsuba Date: 19th century Size: 8.0 x 7.5 x 0.4 cm Condition: Chipping in the middle hole, light rusting. The tsuba is usually a round (or occasionally squareish) guard at the end of the grip of bladed Japanese weapons. They contribute to the balance of the weapon and to the protection of the hand.
