16. AN EMBRODERED TALLIS BAG. Ottoman Empire, c. 1900. The body is made of red velvet with gold colored embroidery. The front of the bag is decorated with the image of a rooster with floral designs, Talit, and A.F. in a cartouche above. The back of the bag is embroidered with the Hebrew name Abraham bar Joseph Fedida and four images of a star within a crescent moon. 8 inches x 10 inches.
