Lot 23: Photograph: Vintage motorsport: Le Mans (black and white). - Set of 8 black-and-white photographs: The start of the 44th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1976). Fifty-five cars entered the race under a relentless sun. Within minutes, Jean-Pierre Jabouille in the Alpine Renault Turbo took the lead, followed by Jacky Ickx in a Porsche. The Porsche 917, 935, and 936 dominated throughout the decade, followed by the French Matra-Simca and Renault teams.
