Gibraltar Half Crown 2018 commemorative coin – ”At The Going Down of the Sun” – WWI Centenary Armistice Memorial issue (1914–1918). Issued for the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I (Armistice Day, 11 November 1918).Obverse: Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in profile facing right (Jody Clark's Royal Mint portrait), with the legend ”ELIZABETH II · D · G · REGINA · GIBRALTAR · 2018” and denomination ”HALF CROWN.”Reverse: Poignant memorial scene depicting a WWI British soldier in uniform with his head bowed in mourning, standing beside a simple wooden cross grave marker. Background includes a Royal Navy battleship, a tank, and a downed aircraft – representing all military branches that served. The foreground features detailed poppy flowers (the iconic remembrance symbol). The famous Laurence Binyon poem line ”AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN” appears as the legend, with dates ”1914 – 1918.” Condition: Proof or Brilliant Uncirculated – mirror-like finish with frosted relief, sharp strike, no visible wear, light handling toning. Excellent state of preservation.
