Significance: The first volume contains the personal stamps and handwritten signatures of the holy Rabbi Akiva Yosef Shlezinger zt”l, a revered leader and halachic authority, as well as a powerful advocate for the Jewish faith and its principles. His involvement in Jewish legal matters, especially in regard to the observance of customs and laws, is widely recognized. Rabbi Akiva Yosef Shlezinger: Born in 1797 (תקצ”ז) and passed away in 1922 (תרפ”ב), Rabbi Shlezinger was a prominent scholar and halachic authority. He was a disciple of his father, Rabbi Yechiel, who was a student of the renowned Rabbi Moses Sofer (the Chatam Sofer). Rabbi Shlezinger himself was circumcised by the Chatam Sofer in his later years, and it is said that Elijah the Prophet assisted with the circumcision. Rabbi Shlezinger was also the son-in-law of Rabbi Hillel of Kolomeya. Noted for his fight against the forces of secularism and his leadership in the settlement of the Land of Israel. He was famous for his unique halachic rulings, especially regarding issues such as blowing the shofar on Rosh Hashanah when it falls on Shabbat in Jerusalem, and his innovation concerning the sacrifice of the Passover lamb—rulings that sparked intense controversy for many years. Condition: The first volume is missing its final pages, ending at page 109, while the remaining two volumes are complete. There is some aging and staining consistent with the books' age, and a few wormholes are present. The books are in good condition, and they are bound in new uniform covers, keeping the integrity of the set. This is a rare and highly valuable set, not only for its halachic content but also due to its association with one of the great scholars and leaders of the Jewish community in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
