Printed from the Rebbe of Hoshtatin Regarding Knesset Elections – Tammuz 1951

This is a rare printed letter, from the revered Rebbe of Hoshtatin, Rabbi Yaakov Friedman (תרל"ט-תשי"ז), addressed to Rabbi David Tzvi Pencas, a member of the first Knesset. The letter, dated Tammuz 1951 (תש"א), is a recommendation from the Rebbe urging the public to vote for the Mizrachi party in the upcoming elections. The Rebbe praises Mizrachi for its steadfast commitment to tradition (Nemanai HaMesorah) and its love for the Land of Israel from every perspective.

Rabbi Yaakov Friedman, the Rebbe of Hoshtatin, was a prominent figure in Chassidic and Jewish life in the early 20th century. He was the son of Rabbi Yitzchak of Bohush and the son-in-law of his cousin, Rabbi Yisrael of Hoshtatin. Known for his deep scholarship in both Torah and secular knowledge, Rabbi Yaakov was instrumental in the founding of the Chibbat Zion movement in Vienna. After emigrating to Eretz Yisrael in 1937, he succeeded his father-in-law as the Rebbe of Hoshtatin following his passing. His teachings are recorded in his book Ohel Yaakov.
