The icon with enamel ”Our Lady of Kazan”, painting in the 1830s. Saratov. Salary 1830s, master I.S., Saratov. Material and technique: wood, oil (icon); 84 silver, gilding, enamel stamp, embossing, engraving (salary), 26.5 x 22.5 x 3 cm. Expert opinion of I.L. Buseva-Davydova - The reverse side is covered with a chemise made of modern velvet fabric of dark red color. The dowels are not visible. There is a paper sticker with the number 193 printed on the printer on the lower end. The front side is a board without an ark. The Mother of God is depicted almost to the waist. Her head is tilted to the right, towards the Christ Child, who stands prayerfully blessing with his right hand; the left hand is hidden under a cloak-a himation. The Mother of God is dressed in a gray-blue robe and a red maforium, with gold borders painted in yellow paint. The Christ child in a green chiton and ochre himalaya. The faces are rounded, pretty, with small regular features. The caryation is white-pink, the shadows are greenish-brown. The personal is written in separate, partially merging small strokes. Halos are replaced by radiance. Above the halo of Christ, his theonymogram is written in yellow paint: ”IIS CHRS”. The theonymogram of the Mother of God is placed in the upper corners.: «MP / ΘΥ». The background is brown. Olive fields. The salary is made of a solid silver sheet, with notches for the faces and handles of the Virgin, with an overhead double crown and two overhead enamel shotguns with the theonymogram of the Mother of God. The fields are designed in the form of a profiled frame with palmette ornaments, and small rockail-type flowers are arranged at the corners. The texture of the fabric is imitated on the maforia of the Mother of God and on the himation of the Baby. The maforium is decorated with smooth bunches of roses. The background is smooth, gilded, and there is a small floral ornament around the eyelashes. Crowns consist of stray rays. Three stamps (1) ”IS” (2) ”84” in rectangular shields, (3) three sterlets in waves in a figured shield are stamped on the lower side of the bend. The marks on the crown of Christ are repeated, but the mark (1) is given in the variant ”JC”. Safety: good. A horizontal crack in the ground and the paint layer in the center of the icon, running along the chin of the Mother of God and above the Baby's eyes. Spot loss of the color layer at the points where the salary touches. Darkening of the top coat. Natural craquelure. The salary is slightly deformed. The ends of some strahl rays on the crowns are broken off. There is a chipped enamel on the left eye socket. There is a slight patina. Such icons became family shrines and were inherited by household and merchant families (for example, in the family of Leo Tolstoy there were three images of the Kazan Mother of God, one of which belonged to the writer's wife). The attributed icon ”Our Lady of Kazan” in the salary of Saratov silver nick I.S. is a rare monument of church art of the Saratov region. It has an undoubted museum and collection value, and is also of scientific interest.
