Icon of the Mother of God from the Deesis triptych, 18th–19th century, wood, gesso, tempera, gilt, 53.5 × 46 × 3.5 cm. - An icon of the Mother of God originating from a multi-part Deesis tier (triptych). The image is executed in the traditional technique of tempera painting on gesso over a wooden panel, with the use of gold leaf. The composition is distinguished by restrained iconographic modeling and a treatment of the facial features and folds of the maphorion characteristic of the 18th–19th centuries. The panel has two recessed borders (kovchegs); both original crossbars are preserved, indicating the integrity of the original construction. The condition shows losses to the paint layer and traces of age and use; the icon requires restoration. Despite this, the image retains its expressive quality and is of interest as an example of ecclesiastical art, suitable for a private collection or professional restoration.
