On the back of the canvas at the bottom is the date, signature (partially hidden by the stretcher bar) serial number: 1910 / N.Dubovskaya Nº10/30 Expert opinion of Makhotina A.A. - A painterly seascape by Nikolai Nikanorovich Dubovskoy—one of the key masters of the Russian landscape school at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries and a member of the Association of Itinerant Art Exhibitions. Created in 1910, the work conveys the artist’s characteristic sense of “weather” and the movement of the elements: a turbulent, restless sea is set against a high sky painted with broad, confident brushstrokes. The interplay of light and air, the dynamic motion of the waves, and the feeling of space together create a powerful, emotionally charged image of the seashore. On the lower part of the reverse of the canvas are the date and the artist’s signature (partially obscured by the stretcher bar), as well as a serial numbering: “1910 / N. Dubovskoy No. 10/30,” which is of significant importance for attribution and for confirming the work’s authorship. Expert opinion: A. A. Makhotina.
