Sofronova Antonina Fedorovna (1892-1966) ”Georgian landscape with figures” 1939. Paper, watercolor, 25 x 20.4 cm. - Antonina Fyodorovna Sofronova's watercolor ”Georgian Landscape with Figures” (1939) is a lyrical sheet in which a natural motif is combined with the genre presence of a person. Small figures are introduced as a scale and a ”living note” in the landscape space: they do not play out the plot, but emphasize the state of the place — calmness, transparency of the air, the feeling of a road or a brief stop in nature. Sofronova subtly uses the possibilities of watercolor: light fills and translucent layers create an airy environment, while denser touches capture the supporting shapes and rhythm of the composition. The color and tone are built softly and carefully — without excessive detail, but with a clear sense of light and depth. The work is perceived as an integral plein-air image, conveying the southern warmth and special poetics of the Georgian landscape. Sofronova Antonina Fedorovna (1892-1966) - painter, graphic artist, illustrator. In 1910-1913 she studied in Moscow at the F.I. Rerberg Art School. In 1913-1917 she attended the studio of I.I. Mashkov. Since 1914 she participated in exhibitions. Member and exhibitor of the following associations: The Jack of Diamonds (1914), the Moscow Association of Artists (1917), The World of Art, OMH (1929), the Thirteen Group (1931). A personal exhibition was held in Moscow (1962). The works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of Fine Arts, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and other museums.
