Graphic artist, painter. He was born in Riga, the son of an architect. In 1970, he graduated from the Moscow State Pedagogical University (formerly Stroganov). He is a student of Heinrich Ludwig (a professor at Moscow State Pedagogical University, a major theorist and practitioner of the architectural avant—garde). Under the influence of G. Ludwig, as a major specialist in the hermeneutics of symbols, he became interested in experiments on the creation of a personal symbolic language, which had developed stylistically by the end of the 1960s. The style underwent changes in the 1970s, receiving the name post-symbolism. Participates in the nonconformist movement, participates in apartment exhibitions. Since 1976, he has participated in exhibitions of unofficial art. In 1981, he was expelled from the painting section of the Committee of Graphic Artists. In 1982, the youth section of the Moscow Agricultural Academy did not recommend admission to membership in the Union. It was not accepted into the Moscow Art Museum until the perestroika of 1988. Exhibition activity resumed in 1988.
