Ajinjal Akhra Alekseevich (born 1962). ”Evening in the city” 2004. Paper, acrylic, 60x70 cm. - ”Evening in the City” is an urban composition on the border of landscape and picturesque abstraction. The artist builds a space from large color planes and generalized volumes: the facades of houses are read as a rhythmic “wall” of rectangles, and the perspective of the street is only outlined — enough to create a feeling of movement inward, towards the center of the canvas. Color plays a key role here. The deep, rich blue of the upper field sets the tone of the evening sky and gathers the whole composition, while the warm red, yellow and ochre accents at the bottom create a sense of urban illumination and inner warmth. The acrylic technique emphasizes the clarity and density of the spots, while maintaining the lively breath of the brushstroke and the slight vibration of the surface. The work is perceived as an emotional “portrait” of the city: not a specific view, but a state — the transition of day into evening, when architecture becomes a decorative silhouette, and space begins to sound with color and rhythm. In 1982, he graduated with a red diploma from the Sukhumi Art College and entered the History Department of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. During his studies with the best teachers of the Department of History and Theory of Art at Moscow University, 5 art exhibitions of Ahra Ajinjal were organized. From 1987 to 1993 he lived and worked in Abkhazia. Since 1990, he has participated in group exhibitions in Sukhumi. In 1993, he moved to Kiev, where he still lives and works. One of the Diplomas awarded to the artist for his services to the development of art, as a Laureate of the International Art Salon ”The Path of Unity”, dedicated to the 285th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow, Central House of Artists, 2009), is signed by five presidents of the Academy of Arts. Ahra Ajinjal's graphics are easily recognizable in the publishing world. His illustrations have graced more than 150 books. The author places a special emphasis in his artistic search on the plasticity of forms. The masterpieces of Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso were most vividly reflected in his work. Ahra Ajinjal's works are in many museums and private collections. Since 1991, about 50 solo and group exhibitions have been held in Moscow, Abkhazia, Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Poland, Switzerland and many other countries.
