Porcelain. Incised Johanneum number under the base: N 232 [Cross]. L. 8,5 cm. W. 8,5 cm. H. 24 cm. Square bottle on a flat, unglazed base. Straight sides, rounded shoulder. Short unglazed neck with flat cap, painted blue under the glaze and red and gold on the glaze. Beautiful sea and landscape motif. Description from the inventory 1721 (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, Inventory no. 324): ''232. 12 pcs. square wine bottles with flat lids, 10 Z. high and 3½ Z in diam. One of the lids is missing and 2 of them are damaged and packed together.” The Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden still has three lidded bottles with this Johanneum number (inventory number PO 5415, PO 5413, PO 5414). - Condition: Traces of age. One chip and some chipped areas on the rim of the lid. Glaze on the upper and lower corner of one bottle slightly chipped. Minim. Losses in the glaze between neck and body, approx. 4 cm.
