Teller und Schale aus versunkener Dschunke - 6 plates and a large bowl from a sunken junk China / Indonesia, 19th century Tek Sing ceramics, blue painting, each plate d. 18.5 cm, three-footed bowl h. 12 cm, d. 25.6 cm. Verso old label from the Nagel auction house in Stuttgart. Partly coral deposits, partly dam., rubbed, traces of age and use. The Tek Sing was a Chinese junk that ran aground on a reef on its way from China to Indonesia in February 1822 and sank - it is also known as the ”Titanic of the East”. Among other things, it had a huge cargo of porcelain on board. The porcelain was salvaged in 1999 and auctioned off at the Nagel auction house in Stuttgart in 2000.
