Artist: WANG Yun (1888-1934). Signed, with red seal: ”Wang Yun”. Image dimensions: 43.5 × 66.5 cm. Scroll painting dimensions: 183 × 56.5 cm. The title of the painting and the signature are written in Chinese calligraphy. Condition: Slight creases and the tissue paper has 2 tears (approx. 2 - 3 cm). Wang Yun, with the character Mengbai and the artist's name Xiangdaoren, came from Fengcheng, Jiangxi. He specialized in animal painting, especially horses, and his painting style was strongly influenced by the ”Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou”, which gave his works a distinct literary atmosphere. Wang Yun carefully observed the behavior of animals and devoted himself to the study of their depiction.
