Aulich initially studied at the Werkkunstschule in Hanover and took lessons from the renowned painter Carl Buchheister, among others. His constructive depictions lie between strict geometry and intuitive concretion. At the end of the 1960s, he created spatial, illusionistic compositions with a clearly objective formal language.
