Bowl with Squirrel - Henri Bergé. Amalric Walter, Nancy 1920s. - Bowl with Squirrel - Henri Bergé Amalric Walter, Nancy 1920s. Pâte de verre in various shades of green, opalescent surface. Melt-formed. Sitting squirrel with long upright ears and a bushy tail resting on the rim of the bowl. Marked inside the bowl: AWALTER NANCY and HBergé SC. H. 11 cm, W. 15 cm. Design by Henri Bergé (1870 - 1937). -- Amalric Walter (1870 - 1959) developed the pâte-de-verre technique in 1903. From 1904-1914, as an employee in the Daum Frères glass factory, he created approximately 100 models together with his colleague Henri Bergé, and in 1910 he received a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels. In 1919, Walter became self-employed, and Bergé continued to supply models for his exclusive objects, which were shown, among others, at the legendary ”Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modernes” in Paris in 1925. - Condition: minimal chip on the right ear - small dark spots and a small hole on the neck.
