Square bottle on flat, unglazed bottom. Straight sides, rounded shoulder. Short unglazed neck with flat cap, painted blue under the glaze and red and gold over the glaze. Beautiful sea and landscape motif. Description from the 1721 inventory (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, Inventory no. 324): ''232. 12 pcs. square wine bottles with flat lids, 10 Z. high and 3½ Z in diam. One is missing a lid and 2 pcs. of them are damaged and glued together.” The Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden still holds three lidded bottles with this Johanneum number (Inventory numbers PO 5415, PO 5413, PO 5414). - Condition: Signs of age. A chip and some bumps on the lid edges. Glaze slightly chipped off at the upper and lower corner of one bottle. Minimal imperfections in the glaze between neck and body, approx. 4 cm.
