Visible dimensions: 17.8 × 12.5 cm. Frame dimensions: 23.5 × 18.5 cm. Dated and signed. Red seal and Chinese calligraphy top left. Condition: Very well preserved. Wang Xiaotíng (1906-1970) was a significant Chinese master of ceramic art. He was born in Leping, Jiangxi Province, and was the eldest son of Wang Yeting, one of the ''Eight Friends of Zhushan''. Wang Xiaotíng's porcelain works are particularly known for their use of the Famille-Rose technique. His painting style was elegant and restrained in the early phase, but later developed into a powerful and expressive idiom. His ability to depict bizarre mountain landscapes and bird-and-flower motifs is particularly noteworthy.
