Imperial Court Utensils: Knife and Chopsticks made of Shagreen, Jade and Bone - Imperial Court Utensils: Knife and Chopsticks made of Shagreen, Jade and Bone China / Mongolia, mid-Qing Dynasty, approx. 18th century. Consisting of three components: knife, chopsticks and sheath. Made of silver, jade, bone, shagreen and wood. The wooden sheath is covered with shagreen and decorated with two small mother-of-pearl pieces and silver mounts. Gold-colored characters are on the knife blade, presumably in Mongolian. Dimensions: Knife length: 28 cm. Chopstick length: 28 cm. Blade length: 22 cm. Condition: Signs of age and use. Parts of the silver mounting are missing. The Shenyang Palace Museum possesses an example of the ''Dining Utensil Combination of Green Shagreen Scabbard, Bone Chopsticks and Dining Knife'', which is considered one of the representative everyday objects of imperial court life during the Qing Dynasty and was made approximately between the Qianlong and Jiaqing eras.
