A Large Carved Wooden Buddha Head - A large carved wooden Buddha head China, probably 19th century or later. Wood, plaster. H. 71 cm. Condition: The surface shows age-related patina, minor spots, and signs of wear. Partially chipped, with visible signs of age. The Buddha's face shows a calm, meditative expression with an oval face shape and gently lowered eyelids, symbolizing inner contemplation. The strikingly elongated earlobes traditionally stand for wisdom and spiritual enlightenment. The mouth is closed and slightly curved, conveying serenity and stillness. On the crown of the head are plastically worked, spiral-shaped hair curls - a typical feature of Buddhist iconography, referring to the Ushnisha, a sign of supernatural knowledge.
