The artist studied at the Academy of Vienna until 1951 and, among others, founded the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism with Ernst Fuchs and Rudolf Hausner. He traveled through Europe, Africa, and Israel and lived with his Yemeni wife temporarily in Paris. His artistic life encompasses not only painting but also singing, with which he was particularly successful in the 1970s. During this time, he also began his work as a stage designer. In the 1990s, he taught as a professor at the Academy of Vienna. He completed the Arik-Brauer-Haus in Vienna in 1994, thereby connecting with the construction of the artist village En Hod in Israel in the 1960s.
