Bronze Tara Buddha Figure (Sitatara / Drolkar) - Bronze Tara Buddha Figure (Sitatara / Drolkar) Tibet, probably 17th / 18th century. Bronze, patinated. H. 34.5 cm, W. approx. 20 cm. Weight: 2.67 kg. Signs of age and wear. Finely crafted figure of Tara - presumably Green Tara, is depicted in a meditative posture on a lotus base. The deity wears a richly adorned five-pointed crown. Her right hand is in the Varada Mudra (the gesture of generosity), and in her left hand, she holds a lotus flower, the stem of which extends along her arm to her shoulder. The right leg is extended and ready to stand up, the left leg is bent in meditation. This symbolizes her readiness to help immediately. Green Tara (Sgrol-ljang, 'the Green Liberator') is the central and most active form among the 21 Taras. She embodies compassion in motion - the immediate, fearless response to suffering. Her energy is quick, youthful, and dynamic.
