Rare Chinese Mòcai Plates - Rare Chinese Mòcai Plates China, probably late Qing Dynasty, 19th-20th century. Porcelain, painted in Mòcai technique on the glaze. D. 27.5 cm, H. 4.5 cm. With royal feast motif. Very finely painted. Condition: Very well preserved, some firing spots on the display side. No chips or cracks. Mòcai (Black Painting): This technique imitates Chinese ink painting on porcelain. The first forms emerged in the late Ming Dynasty. Its heyday was reached in the Qing Dynasty, especially under Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong. Modern workshops, such as in Jingdezhen, still produce high-quality Mòcai pieces today.
