''Mansheng Teapots'' with Chen Mansheng's signature and on the bottom is the stamp: A Man Tuo Shi. Signs of age and wear. Two small, superficial hairline cracks on the spout and two on the curve. A similar Mansheng teapot is kept in the Nanjing Museum. Chen Hongshou (1768-1822), with the artist's name Mansheng, came from Qiantang in Zhejiang province. He was a master of seal carving, calligraphy, painting, and the design of purple clay teapots. In the history of seal carving, he holds a revered position. His works were inspired by the Qin and Han dynasties, and he distinguished himself through his chiseling technique, which was characterized by boldness and unrestrained power (as can be seen from the inscriptions on his purple clay teapots).
