Two Miniatures: Red Glass Hulu Vase and Manao (Agate) Censer - Two Miniatures: Red Glass Hulu Vase and Manao (Agate) Censer China, 19th-20th century. A red glass Hulu vase, H. 7.5 cm; a Manao (agate) censer, H. 4.7 cm. The Hulu vase bears an engraving on the bottom with four Chinese characters: Xing You Heng Tang (”Created for the Hall of Consistency”). Condition: Signs of wear, one handle of the censer is damaged. Xing You Heng Tang, meaning ”Hall of Endurance, ” was a private workshop mark used in the Qing Dynasty in China. Unlike imperial government marks, it reflected the identity of a collector or patron, not that of the emperor. Works with this marking are valued for their artistry and historical worth and are highly sought after today in auctions and collections worldwide.
