Persian manuscript page with miniature painting - Persian manuscript page with miniature painting Iran / India, probably 19th century. Paper, painted with ink, gouache and gold powder. Sheet dimensions approx. 13 × 20 cm, frame dimensions 19.3 × 25.5 cm. Probably from Nizami's epic Khamsa. Reverse with Persian-Arabic script and black seal lower left. Framed under glass. Condition: browned, edges with minor defects. Persian miniatures are characterized by the fascinating complexity of their figure compositions. Their main function was the artistic accompaniment of Persian poetry and literature.
