Square Ge-Craquelé bowl - Square Ge-Craquelé bowl China, probably 20th century or earlier. Ceramic, celadon-colored glaze with a beautiful craquelure pattern. Dimensions: 15 × 15 × 4.5 cm. Round mouth, D. 12.8 cm. Unmarked. Sticker from another auction on the bottom. Condition: Signs of age and wear, no chips or damage. Ge ware is known for its celadon-colored glaze and especially for the typical double craquelure (”gold thread and iron line”), i.e., a network of light and dark cracks. The exact origin is unclear, presumably from the Hangzhou region. Many pieces previously attributed to the Song period probably date from the Yuan or Ming Dynasty, which is why today one often speaks of Ge-type ware.
