Josef Bachler was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1914 and lived until his death in 1979 in the House of Artists in Gugging. His approach to drawing was very determined: he cut through the white of the paper with a few lines, sketching a woman, a man, or an animal. His works are held, among others, in the Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation, Austria.
