Arik Brauer - Arik Brauer 1929 Vienna - 2021 Vienna - ”Esau's Tears” - colour etching/paper. 57/300 (LX). 20.8 x 25.5 cm, 36.5 x 40 cm. 50 x 60.5 cm (dimensions with frame). Signed lower right: Brauer. Framed under glass. Slightly browned. The artist studied at the Academy of Vienna until 1951 and, among others, founded the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism with Ernst Fuchs and Rudolf Hausner. He travelled through Europe, Africa, and Israel and lived temporarily in Paris with his Yemeni wife. His artistic life encompassed not only painting but also singing, with which he was particularly successful in the 1970s. During this time, he also began his work as a stage designer. In the 1990s, he taught as a professor at the Academy of Vienna. He completed the Arik Brauer House in Vienna in 1994, connecting it to the construction of the artist village En Hod in Israel in the 1960s.
