From 1953-56 he studied at the Academy of Arts in Sofia. In 1957, the first packages and ”Wrapped Objects” were created in Paris. Since 1961, Christo realized projects together with the artist Jeanne-Claude, his later wife. Probably the most famous project in Germany is the wrapping of the Reichstag, which took place from June 23 - July 8, 1995. Here, Christo and Jeanne-Claude used 100,000 sqm of fabric, 15,600 m of rope and 200 tons of steel. Christo's life's work was honored by the German government after his death in 2020. Volz became particularly known through his collaboration with the artist couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude, whose artworks he exclusively photographed since 1972. This close collaboration was documented in various publications and exhibitions worldwide.
